During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men's faces in the UK and around the world. The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer & other cancers that affect men.

Mark, positioned at his desk by the entrance, greeted me as I came in. “Take your time wandering round,” he said, “and feel free to ask any questions.”
A1 Bathrooms is a sizeable two-storey showroom on a trading estate off the A339 ring road. Displays of Ambiance Bain and Ideal Standard sanitary ware with Matki showers and Crosswater brassware were well presented with warm lighting and attractive tiling. All was spotless. Boards of bathroom accessories and a selection of Imperial wall lights filled empty wall space. A subtle, neatly typed notice announced ‘15% off all Ideal Standard displays’.
I asked Mark about installation. “We have our own fitters,” he replied. “We will come out to measure up and then I can make suggestions as to what will work and create a plan for you. This won’t be set in stone - you can make as many changes as you want.”
Mark showed me CAD images of a bathroom he was currently working on and explained that A1 is also expanding. “We will have a kitchen studio upstairs by the end of the month.”
We found that A1 Bathrooms Ltd started in 1989 in smaller premises and moved in 1996 to the current 5,000 sq ft showroom on the Armstrong Road trading estate. A good mix of middle price products is on display from popular brands, such as Ideal Standard, Ambiance Bain and Matki. “Our customers spend between £5,000 and £8,000 for a complete supply and install service,” says Aidan Brophy.
